REVIEW: Rimmel Stay Matte Primer

Rimmel Stay Matte Primer
hello mon cher reader! I hope you're having a lovely day unlike moi, who's so under the weather and has skipped school today. Oddly enough, I found myself in a mood for a blog post. Which of course is a great outcome under such circumstances. Normally I'd stay away from anything that requires any brain use when I'm feeling down like today. So either my mood's getting better or I've managed to alter these under-the-weather cases to my advantage or something??? Anyways! This is not what the post is about, obviously. I'm reviewing a STAY MATTE Primer by Rimmel.

As always, let's see what it claims to do:

"The new ultra-mattifying primer can be worn as a matte, silky base before applying your foundation, or on top of your make up to keep you looking effortlessly chic without clogging pores. Ultra lightweight formula that minimizes the appearance of pores. Controls shine for up to 8 hours creating a soft, perfectly matte complexion. Won’t feel heavy or greasy."

Rimmel Stay Matte PrimerI must say, this primer does carry out their claims quite accurately! I'd call this product an alternative version for everyone's beloved Stay Matte pressed powder. While the compact takes away the shine and keeps your foundation in place, the primer does the same, only it works from within. I have a combo skin (which is a bit on the oily side at times) and I either use this primer after moisturizing or the mentioned pressed powder on top of my makeup. But I never use both! I guess if you have a really oily skin, then I'd say go for it, but all the other skin types should stay away from this combination. Also, if you have a dry skin, you probably won't like this primer, I mean, why'd you go for a mattifying product in the first place, right?

The consistency is probably my favorite one I came across when trying different primers. I like my primer thick, not watery or wet (so, unlike a moisturizer). This one has a silicone-y feel to it, so it doesn't spread so easily, therefore I have to use more of the product than I'd like to for one application. Nevertheless, it does a great job at mattifying, it takes control of any oil excess on my face. I love to wear it alone and actually that may be the reason I love this primer so much. I apply it after moisturizer and bam! - the shine's gone and my face is all matte. Even if I'm not leaving the house I still use it sometimes because my acne's been acting up lately and that leads to a yucky shiny face. Gladly, it doesn't make me break out even more or make my acne even worse.

So basically I'm happy about this primer and I'll definitely be re-purchasing it, probably more for a no-makeup-days, oh I will adore this thing on the hot Summer days! As always, I might have left out a bunch of things so if you have any questions, ask away. See you soon!

REVIEW: Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation
R  E  V  I  E  W

hello mon cher reader! The better skin foundation from Maybelline is one of my most recent purchases and I've tried it already, had some not so ordinary experience with it and this is why I decided to review this product to whoever it may concern.

I snatched this foundation when I couldn't find the right shade of my beloved True Match by L'Oreal (READ: MY HOLY GRAIL FOUNDATION). This one appealed to me with its loud and bold promise of 'better skin' on each bottle and the first (the lightest) shade in their range of 8 seemed like the right color for me. So this is how it ended up in my shopping cart, now let me tell you how it ended up shoved in the back of my makeup drawer.

This is what it claims and what I expected:

I have no idea how I'd find out whether it helps my skin within the 3 weeks since I can't wear it for even a single day. For me, this isn't working at all. I wore this only once and thank god I only had a few classes that day because I was this close to rushing into ladies room and wiping it all off! It was really unbearable. All the bad things I've experienced with makeup foundations are in this one one product.

It creases immediately after application. It's all streaky if applied with a blush, so I chose a sponge. It is, however, well blendable, but besides that and a good shade fit, there are no more good things I can tell you about this product. So lets continue on bashing this foundation, shall we! The coverage it has on my face, is something between light and medium. And I wouldn't say it's buildable up to a full coverage since putting loads of this stuff on my face doesn't seem so appealing to me. Instead of covering up, it exaggerates my imperfections.

I'd like to repeat that this is the way the Better Skin foundation worked on my skin, maybe it works magic on someone else's. Have you tried it? Please do share your thoughts in the comments! And of course, feel free to ask anything because I'm sure I missed loads of stuff to mention, I've only done a few product reviews in my life after all hehe... But more are definitely to come.

bisou bisou,
Julia
