THE ULTIMATE WARDROBE STAPLES

Mid-June here in England feels so uncertain about Summer; it awkwardly fluctuates between i-dont-care-im-gonna-wear-a-bikini-to-work and October-ish sweater weather. All that with a 95% chance of drizzling mess. So it's a bit too soon to indulge in a full-on Summer style, but we're well on our way! Therefore, the English summertime has played in favor of one of my latest looks. Basic and very much a style cliche. A trustee pair of skinnies, white tee, good ol leather jacket and black pointed flats.

leather jacket - zara  ·  skinny jeans - primark  ·  white tee - zara  ·  flats - h&m  ·  sunglasses - vintage inclined  ·  watch - daniel wellington

In other words - my ultimate wardrobe staples. Here's a lil piece of #fashun advice for ya: nothing says "I have money" and "I know what I'm doing" more than elegantly basic and effortlessly thrown together looks. Trust me, you need these core pieces in your closet; it's so easy to build your outfits around them and achieve your own effortlessly chic. Bonus: when you can't be bothered, wear all of it at once and stride the streets proudly like yours truly.

OOTD: BEACHY & FUSS-FREE (+VIDEO)

V-NECK - ZARA  ·  SKIRT - PRIMARK  ·  SUNNIES - VINTAGE INCLINED  ·  WATCH - DANIEL WELLINGTON

Beach days are upon us, in all their salt-scented glory! It's the ultimate thoughts-free zone which, of course, must be approached in a carefree manner with a fuss-free choice of garments. I'm really the last person to wear body chains, feathers and head pieces to beach. Sure, boho is summery and very instagram-worthy indeed. For me, it all comes down to comfort though. Strangling myself with multi-layered necklaces all day is the last thing I want! Lets leave all of the above for coachella and those Summer pinterest boards which supposedly are your inspiration for your Summer2k15.

In my previous #fashun post I stated how simple monochrome outfits say I-don't-have-time-for-any-of-this-but-I-know-what-I'm-doing. My effortless take on beachwear ended up with a comfy jersey maxi skirt and my beloved white V-neck. Nothing offsets sun-kissed skin better than white, duh!

LET'S TALK JEWELRY · WORKADAY LUXURY

Workaday luxury? I'm not exactly attending galas or posh dinners at the moment, but I love me a fancy oomph in my everyday looks. What's a better way to incorporate extravagance in your #ootd than to do so through jewelry? Without giving much thought to it, I have unintentionally developed a key rule when accessorizing for the day. It sounds a bit like - the less the better. I've been wearing only one or two accessories per outfit which is a big deal for someone who used to put on half of her jewelry and hair bows at the same time.

I will usually have a watch on my wrist and simply look for a piece of jewelry to match my choice of the watch. Since I never really loved the idea of wearing rings or bracelets, I simply opt for either a necklace or a pair of earrings. The latter is what I'll be discussing in this post; geez, what an introduction!

EARRINGS - Cavendish French (via Jewel Street)

This lovely pair of earrings have preoccupied a big part of my heart and soul and basically became a part of moi altogether. So this is definitely a blog post worthy material. Aren't these little teardrop studs stunning? I don't normally do ..flashy. But this is such a lovely exception as the earrings are so tiny and can dress up an everyday look so easily; just as it can be an elegant night time piece paired with a matching zirconia necklace.

Accessorizing has never been easier. Having all sorts of jewelry ruled out except for watches, necklaces and earrings, it only takes me a few seconds in the morning to choose a piece of two from my jewelry stash. Which, by the way, isn't all that big and impressive at all. Once I've discovered what fits me best and had my taste developed, I no longer feel like bulk-shopping for jewelry in H&M or any other mass production stores. I almost wish I had one-of-a-kind pieces around my neck or in my ears, but since I don't have that kind of dolla, I go for something else instead.

This particular pair of earrings are from the brand called Cavendish French which I'd discovered when browsing the infinite amounts of jewelry on the Jewel Street. If you're like me, who's fond of unique, underrated and original pieces, I highly recommend doing your jewelry shopping on the Jewel Street. They sell stuff from hundreds of different boutiques, most of which you probably haven't even heard of (at least I haven't). Therefore, they stock thousands of pieces on there, so no matter what you're after or what your style is, you will most definitely come across something you'll fall in love with!

L'OBSESSION DU JOUR: Emmanuelle Alt

The sense of style possessed by women such as Charlotte Gainsbourg, Nine d'Urso and Emmanuelle Alt is an ultimate aphrodisiac to me. Today I want to share a few of my favorite stylish snippets of Emmanuelle Alt. And if you're not a huge style stalker like yours truly, I shall briefly introduce you to the French Vogue editor-in-chief's wardrobe.

I wish I managed to stay as consistent with my outfits as this lady ever so effortlessly does. Blazers, button downs and jeans seem to be the key pieces and I need at least fifty of each, because I've fallen head over heels for this simplistic ensemble. Speaking of heels, I love Alt's choices of shoes. She's in that 2% who can rock kitten heels in today's street style.

Every time Alt steps outside she seems to herald a sense of heritage within her outfits, but in the midst of being classically elegant she is totally modern at the same time. I want to carry the Emmanuelle Alt vibe with my outfits this year, but of course with a twist of my own style. For instance, I could never give up stripes.

TRÈS SIMPLE EST COMPLIQUÉ

Now look at those clean aesthetics! I've been working on this simple blog design these past few nights and here's what I've managed to achieve. It may not seem like much, but it's much cleaner and more refined than it was before. But first of all, let me escort this elephant out of the room by addressing the biggest change.

Au revoir Très Queentastic, bienvenue à Rosy Layers, mes chéries!

I go by rosy layers on every single social media account, so I decided to see off the queentastic once and for all. Back onto minimal design... it's just like fashion - believe it or not, I find it complex to achieve. So I was getting dressed the other day; I tried tucking this button-down in, wearing a blazer over it; having it underneath a jumper with cuffs peeking through... Finally I shoved everything back in my closet until I was left with the button-down and a pair of skinnies. Conclusion: it took me a whole closet to go through until it dawned on me that less is more and simple est frickin' complicuè.

OF WOVEN LEATHER AND FLATLAYS

OF WOVEN LEATHER AND FLATLAYS

14 · 1 · 2015

First of all, let's take a minute to appreciate this absolutely gorgeous packaging that's housed an equally beautiful wallet. Some things are too pretty to unwrap, but my fingers were tingling with impatience while I was taking the photo on the left. Once unboxed, this classy beauty from Match-bags has emerged. It has definitely prickled my flatlay powers; thus, have a look at my very noir results.

MATCHBAGS WALLET · KLAUS KOBEC WATCH · NS KING HAIR PINS · EBAY PEARL EARRINGS · BLUEBIRDSS RINGS · H&M SCARF · L'OREAL LIPSTICK

I tend to use the same wallet for the whole year and I've been sticking to quite simply designed black ones. To avoid a plain black wallet - I like to go for a pattern (see my previous chevron-textured wallet here). This time, we have a woven leather here, which definitely creates a gorgeous print.

Usually, a zip-up wallet comes with its perks. Like, lagging zippers for instance. And yet I have no such problem with this one! It slides like it's buttered. (Does this expression exist? It does now.) So there's no chance you'll be fiddling with it, hopelessly trying to get your money out at the register. I also love how sturdy yet soft the wallet feels. This is how quality feels like! It's genuine leather after all.

PRIMARK PANTS · H&M SHIRT · FREYRS SUNNIES

I thought I was going to do an all-back ensemble for this flalay, but I couldn't resist a pop gold. How do you like this simple yet elegant look of classic ankle-lenght pant and a white sheer button-down featuring gold accessorizing? In my opinion it's quite refined and could pass for both evening and day wear!

THE FIFTH

THE FIFTH

05 / 01 / 2015

Today, on this beautifully aligned date of the fifth of twenty-fifteen, I am showing you the beauty that is The Fifth watch. When I first discovered the brand, I was in absolute awe; the simplicity of  it is astounding. It is, in fact, my very first purchase of the year... Is there an expression that says something along the lines of  your first buy reflecting the whole upcoming year? There isn't? Either way, I believe that my 2015 will be the one of simplicity and that less-is-more jazz.

First of all, The Fifth does things a little differently. Let me introduce you their concept which is called 'The Fifth View'; it consists of 5 simple rules which you can read above. This unusual idea is quite simple and I must say quite exciting. They sell watches only for five days a month; the sale launches on the 5th of each month. What is more, there are five surprises each time too, like giveaways and such, I believe.

As you may have guessed, today's the 5th of January, meaning the sale has launched and will be running for the next five days. Let the shopping commence!  > their website

Now, let me flail over the design. According to the website, 'The idea of the Fifth revolves around the inspiration of Fifth Avenue, New York', they 'used inspiration from the classic New York fashion landscape and the contemporary style of Melbourne.' Well, the result gets 5 five stars from me. Get it? It really does though. I love how it is so universal and seamless.

The whole unisex aesthetic appeals to me greatly these days. I also love how steady and sturdy it feels on my wrist. I know I haven't included any pictures of me wearing it, but you'll see tons of them on my instagram as this is definitely my new go-to accessory.

What are your thoughts?

OOTD: Winter Outwear, Festive Touch

23 / 12 / 2014

WINTER OUTWEAR, FESTIVE TOUCH

Surprisingly, this English winter has graced us with quite warm days and absolutely rain-free skies. It's just that I'm used to insanely cold winters where the last thing I care about is fashion. So it's kind of a big deal for me to break out with  high heels and sunglasses on a daily basis. Thus, anything that makes my heart flutter deserves a blog post!

Normally I wouldn't bother, but for some reason I wanted to brighten up my outwear for the festive season so I chose a bright scarf. Which has also become an excuse to go to Starbucks so I'd get all matchy-matchy with my drink and scarf. Which brings us to another excuse for a cup of starbs. I lost my gloves and a girl gotta keep her hands warm! Why not wrap my fingers around a hot choc then? I'm definitely a little bit obsessed with a festive menu, my favorite drink has got to be the Honey and Almond Hot Chocolate. Please tell me yours in the comments!

I'm keeping it basic and normcore beneath my lovely coat by wearing a pair of simple skinnies and a crewneck. The latter is literally the comfiest and snuggliest thing I own and yet it's a flexible piece to style anyway you want. I'm loving the combo with gold!

#WorshipWednesday: DANIEL WELLINGTON

17 / 12 / 2014

#WorshipWednesday: DANIEL WELLINGTON

Apologies to religious readers, there ain't no gospel or Bible studies on #WorshipWednesdays on Très Queentastic. Merely a vain love confession for a little something each week. I'll kick off this #WW thing by obsessing over my Daniel Wellington watch. I've fallen head over heels for this one; makes me want to doodle hearts and scribble Mrs Wellington in the margins of my notes.

DW WATCH • LES NEREIDES BRACELET • PRIMARK SCARF • BLUEBIRDSS RINGS • FREYRS SUNGLASSES • AMI CLUBWEAR SHOES

The simplicity of this stunner is what appeals to me the most. Lately I've been crazy about minimalism and the whole less is more thing. I'm not putting on every piece of jewelry I own anymore. Instead, this watch is the only thing clasped to my wrist and yet my wrist game is at its peak.

I don't want to be the only one having an affair with this watch, step up your wrist game and get yourself a DW too with a 15% off when you use the code 'holidayjulia'. Treat yo self this Christmas!

Keepin' Autumn Chills at Bay (OOTD + VIDEO)

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 13

"It was final, explosive demonstration of Summer, the line in the sand, a desperate attempt to hold Fall forever at bay." - Lauren Oliver, "Panic", one of the best books I've read this Summer. The author couldn't have said it better, it describes yesterday most accurately. Since I live half an hour of bus ride from the seaside, me and my friend spent our Friday there. We visited both Margate and Broadstairs.

T-SHIRT - KCLOTH | SKIRT - PRIMARK | SANDALS - DEICHMANN | WATCH - KLAUS KOBEC | EARRINGS - PRIMARK

To keep the Autumn chills at bay I wore a long jersey skirt which I find to be a great transitional piece and will be perfect for early Autumn as well. To avoid looking too dressed-up I paired it with my beloved Barbie tee and sandals. I couldn't have chosen a better and more comfortable outfit for a seaside trip and walks around the town.

The pictures were taken in Margate as we found the town is simply better looking than Broadstairs. But the latter has a much more beautiful beach, so I decided to film a few snippets and share them with you.

FALL FORECAST: Classy & Polished

It's probably the first Autumn in my life when I'm not drawn to the generic autumnal cozy-wear, not in the slightest. I guess I may have grown out of wanting to huddle under layers of plaids and knits. Why make myself look five times fatter in an over-sized sweater when there are tons of equally comfortable clothing out there? Autumn-wear is so much more than the sweater weather!

playsuit - HOUSE OF TRENDELLA | interior via DPAGES

One of the items on my current wishlist is a jumpsuit. After wearing my beloved Reverse one throughout this summer (see here) and realizing what a comfortable piece a jumpsuit can be, I just need at least one for Autumn as well. I spotted quite a few of them in the stores, but none of them made my heart skip a beat like the one from House of Trendella did. It's basically an autumnal version of my floral one. This hue of gray can be paired with probably everything else in my closet, making this piece so versatile as you can dress it up (e.g. heels and statement necklaces) or dress it down (e.g. knit kimono and ankle boots).

I'm all about clean, polished lines, earth-tones, neutrals, whites and occasional pop of colors this season.

Speaking of color popping, here's another piece I'd like to share. When spotting that gorgeous playsuit on House of Trendella, I also found this bright dress on there too. I love the simplicity of it and can't help imagining it paired with a white fur jacket. Coral is not for Summer only!

I hope you enjoyed this little wishlist/inspo sort of post, I just felt like I need to share my Fall forecast with you and give you a hint of I'm going for this season.

What is your perfect autumn-wear?

Julia
