SIX GEMS OF INTEREST

Presenting you my 6 recent finds from around the internets which cover fashion, music, film, even science. #AccidentallyDiverse. Oh, and a shameless amount of ineligible hashtags. Hopefully this late night post will bring your pre-Monday blues to a minimum.

NUMBER ONE

Them W. Anderson aesthetics! Jon and Jess made such a visually pleasing save-the-date, makes me wonder what their big day will look like. Also makes me want to wipe the dust off my tripod and make something Wes-Anderson inspired. Just you wait, babes.

NUMBER TWO

This is all no news for yours truly, except for a new way of rolling up my pants. But it's definitely a good started guide to all of you who seek that effortlessly chic yet strong look. You're welcome!

NUMBER THREE

Remember all those boring and most of the time #DumbAf patients that doctor House had to cover alongside 'the main case of the episode'? Yeah, these are worse.
(I want to rewatch House MD now.)

NUMBER FOUR

I've always had this inexplicable appreciation for Leighton for staying under the radar which lets me rediscover her talent over and over again on a regular basis. I've been spinning her album Heartstrings on repeat for a few days now!

NUMBER FIVE

WHAT. A. TRIP. These might have just become my most favorite photographs. How come it's the first time I'm seeing these pictures?? I, for one, would easily consider them a quintessential part of periodic fashion photography. Not only there are some of the raddest outfits, but also it's photographed really well.

NUMBER SIX

LET'S TALK JEWELRY · WORKADAY LUXURY

Workaday luxury? I'm not exactly attending galas or posh dinners at the moment, but I love me a fancy oomph in my everyday looks. What's a better way to incorporate extravagance in your #ootd than to do so through jewelry? Without giving much thought to it, I have unintentionally developed a key rule when accessorizing for the day. It sounds a bit like - the less the better. I've been wearing only one or two accessories per outfit which is a big deal for someone who used to put on half of her jewelry and hair bows at the same time.

I will usually have a watch on my wrist and simply look for a piece of jewelry to match my choice of the watch. Since I never really loved the idea of wearing rings or bracelets, I simply opt for either a necklace or a pair of earrings. The latter is what I'll be discussing in this post; geez, what an introduction!

EARRINGS - Cavendish French (via Jewel Street)

This lovely pair of earrings have preoccupied a big part of my heart and soul and basically became a part of moi altogether. So this is definitely a blog post worthy material. Aren't these little teardrop studs stunning? I don't normally do ..flashy. But this is such a lovely exception as the earrings are so tiny and can dress up an everyday look so easily; just as it can be an elegant night time piece paired with a matching zirconia necklace.

Accessorizing has never been easier. Having all sorts of jewelry ruled out except for watches, necklaces and earrings, it only takes me a few seconds in the morning to choose a piece of two from my jewelry stash. Which, by the way, isn't all that big and impressive at all. Once I've discovered what fits me best and had my taste developed, I no longer feel like bulk-shopping for jewelry in H&M or any other mass production stores. I almost wish I had one-of-a-kind pieces around my neck or in my ears, but since I don't have that kind of dolla, I go for something else instead.

This particular pair of earrings are from the brand called Cavendish French which I'd discovered when browsing the infinite amounts of jewelry on the Jewel Street. If you're like me, who's fond of unique, underrated and original pieces, I highly recommend doing your jewelry shopping on the Jewel Street. They sell stuff from hundreds of different boutiques, most of which you probably haven't even heard of (at least I haven't). Therefore, they stock thousands of pieces on there, so no matter what you're after or what your style is, you will most definitely come across something you'll fall in love with!

FEBRUARY FAVORITES + VIDEO

As you may have noticed, I update my youtube channel only once in five lifetimes.. and today's the day! I've been filming some snippets of my monthly favorites throughout the past week. And since I'm not very vocal in my videos, I decided to do a joint favorites including a blog post as well! You can watch the video here (Shhh  I will be mentioning some of my other favorites herein the blog post as well..)

Beauty: Sally Hansen and Seche Vite

This duo has been on my nails throughout the whole month of February! Of course, I've been repainting once a week, but just out of habit really. Because it doesn't chip! The quality of Sally Hansen nail polishes is by far the best I've come across and a coat of Seche Vite just seals the whole thing so good. The latter deserves all the praise and hype by the way.

Colab Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Out of all the things my hair needs, volume is at the very top of the 'most wanted' list. This dry shampoo has been life changing this past month. I won't rave about it in this post as I have already done it in here.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer

Please tell me what on earth did take me this long to finally buy this wonder of a concealer?! It's the most amazing gem for under eyes as it doesn't crease! It has a very decent coverage, just enough for my personal liking. The color match is almost perfect as well; although Rimmel stuff is always kind of the yellowish side.. Anyways, I have found my holy gray concealer for my under eyes; if you haven't - you need this in your life!

Drink: Twinnings Liquorice Earl Grey

Tea in general is very dear to me and this one has truly been a highlight of the month! Twinings never fails to surprise me. I highly recommend this to all of my fellow tea aficionados. However, this may not be for everyone as my friend absolutely hates it! I wouldn't say to stay away from this one if you don't like liquorice (I personally adore it) because you can barely pick up on it while drinking! It's just a bit of a fancier earl grey.

Book: Gone Girl

I'm so late on this, I knowwww.. I just wish I hadn't seen the movie before reading the book, because I'd be screaming at all the plot twists. I haven't finished it yet, but when I do, I'll go straight to the other books by Gillian Flynn before there are more movies made..

TV, Film and Music

The weird thing is, there weren't any standouts in this category this past month.. Just a few great things, but nothing worth a standing applause. I've been binge-rewatching Community because they finally put it up on Netflix, definitely one of my top faves of all time. If you enjoy fun sitcoms - do check it out. Better Call Saul aired. It's been great, I'm almost certain I'm enjoying it just as much as  Breaking Bad, so that should say a lot because I frickin loved the latter. Also, How To Get Away With Murder has come back and I was freaking out over all the twists and turns. Ah, what a great series!!

I haven't been watching much films throughout February, I thought wasn't going to put any in this post.. Until I remembered that those few movies were oscar nominees. Therefore I want to mention Nightcrawler which stunned me in every way possible. From the unusual setting (LA suburbs at nighttime) to the impeccable characterization which was performed by the oh-so-underrated Jake Gyllenhaal. HE WAS SO GOOD YOU GUYS.

Music of the month has been a few tracks being played on repeat. New releases by the Milky Chance, also Matt & Kim. And a few songs that were shazamed during the rolling credits of the TV series Girls. Here have a listen:

Fashun: H&M jumper

I'm just gonna put it out there - I live in this jumper. It's the comfiest thing in my closet and I don't want to wear anything else. ever. The sad days are when I have to do laundry and live without this for a day. However, the saddest and the most tragic day was in mid-February when I spilled nail polish on it. So of course I don't wear it in public anymore, but I shamelessly continue to live in it at home. I'm trying to hunt down this exact jumper on H&M again, but the hunt is not going down that well...

This is it for my February favorites, don't forget to watch the video (and celebrate the fact that I uploaded) if you haven't already. Also, tell me what you think of this joint thing! See you in my next blog post!

L'OBSESSION DU JOUR: Emmanuelle Alt

The sense of style possessed by women such as Charlotte Gainsbourg, Nine d'Urso and Emmanuelle Alt is an ultimate aphrodisiac to me. Today I want to share a few of my favorite stylish snippets of Emmanuelle Alt. And if you're not a huge style stalker like yours truly, I shall briefly introduce you to the French Vogue editor-in-chief's wardrobe.

I wish I managed to stay as consistent with my outfits as this lady ever so effortlessly does. Blazers, button downs and jeans seem to be the key pieces and I need at least fifty of each, because I've fallen head over heels for this simplistic ensemble. Speaking of heels, I love Alt's choices of shoes. She's in that 2% who can rock kitten heels in today's street style.

Every time Alt steps outside she seems to herald a sense of heritage within her outfits, but in the midst of being classically elegant she is totally modern at the same time. I want to carry the Emmanuelle Alt vibe with my outfits this year, but of course with a twist of my own style. For instance, I could never give up stripes.

bisou bisou,
Julia
